Since I was a child I liked to draw. It gave me something different. As an hyperactive child I found drawing as a comfort place to relax. These days drawing isn't something people like to do, they prefer to take a camera and take photos. In a way photography killed drawing the first time. Nowadays its something only ‘artists’ would ever do. I can understand why, people prefer the now, the easy way.
For designers, computers are becoming more and more sophisticated and help us, fix us and sometimes also draw for us. It looks like human drawing is changing its course and now computers are going to kill drawing the second time.
Its a shame, because drawing is really important in building creative thinking. For kids drawing is one of the early foundations of logical thinking or abstract thought. Whether your child is still at home with you or at school already, drawing helps them prepare for learning more complex concepts. Learning these creative ways of thinking at an early age readies a child for future education. Provide your kids with a variety of materials to draw with, for example crayons, paint, chalk and not forgetting types of technology such as phones and tablets, allowing screen time to be put to good use!
We need drawing to be more creative, for me its another phase in my planing and the more you plan the better the product will be. I can visualize my products before actually planning the metric of it inside a computer program .
In my studies I had to draw a kids book from scratch in order to practice and improve my drawing, I recommend you do something like that.
I decided to take an america folk story, 'Group of frogs' and just create meaning to this amazing tale.
"The first writing of the human being was drawing, not writing." ~Marjane Satrapi
